This page explains how the guides on fupa.uk are researched, written and kept up to date, and what this site is not. If you think something here is wrong or out of date, please tell us.
How we produce our content
Every guide is written by the fupa.uk editorial team. We start from what people actually search for, then work outwards to the evidence rather than the other way round. Where a claim is well established we state it plainly. Where the evidence is thin, mixed or contested — which is often the case for lower-belly fat specifically — we say so instead of rounding it up into something more confident.
Our sources
We prefer, in this order: NHS and NICE guidance; peer-reviewed research indexed on PubMed; guidance published by professional bodies such as the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) and the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS); and named clinics or practitioners where a procedural detail is not covered elsewhere. We link to our sources so you can check them yourself.
We do not treat other content sites, forums or social media as sources of fact, although we do read them to understand what people are asking.
What this site is not
fupa.uk is an information site. Nothing here is medical advice, a diagnosis, or a substitute for speaking to a qualified professional. Our guides are not currently reviewed by a named clinician, and we would rather tell you that than imply a level of oversight we do not have. If you are considering surgery, starting a new exercise or eating plan, or you have pain, skin irritation or any symptom that concerns you, speak to your GP or an appropriately qualified practitioner first.
Reviews and updates
Each guide carries the date it was last updated. We revisit pages when guidance changes, when we find an error, or at least once a year for anything covering procedures, costs or health claims.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we correct it and note that the page has been updated. Please send corrections through our contact page.
Commercial relationships
Where a page contains an affiliate or paid link, it is labelled clearly on that page and the link is marked as sponsored, in line with ASA and CAP Code guidance. A commercial relationship never decides whether a product is recommended, and it never changes what we say about whether something works.
